About Us

We are proud to be an independent small business.

We started trading in 2016, intially online only and with just a few simple skin and body care products.  But, as the saying goes, mighty oaks from little acorns grow.  Whilst we may not yet be as mighty an oak as we might wish, we have grown from these simple beginnings.

Even at this early stage, we knew what was important to us as a business and what made our customers happy.

In late 2019 an opportunity to open a small store near our home in Somerset came our way and we decided to jump in and take the plunge.  Little did we know then what the coming months would bring in terms of challenges and frustrations.  A whirlwind opening ensued and after a few months during which we concentrated on establishing our place in the local community, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and we had to adapt.  Over the next 12 months we had periods when we were open and many when we had to close.  Throughout this, we continued to do the basics well, including local deliveries and we invested in our online store.

Early in 2021, we decided it was time to find a new home for our store, somewhere that would give us the space to turn all our ideas and dreams in to a reality.  We expect our new store to be open in the Autumn of 2021 and in the meantime, we continue to strive to become a might oak, whilst not forgetting our past as a little acorn.

Mighty Oaks

Not only do we recognise the important role we play in our local community as an independent retailer, we also understand that we have a responsibility to meet theexpectations of customers from far and wide.  As an online retailer we understand that our community is created at different levels and distances from us and that we must work hard to maintain our place within that community.

As an independent retailer we understand how significant the contribution that small independent businesses make to their local communities.  Wherever possible, we source products direct from the maker and will avoid intermediaries and wholesalers if we can.  Afterall, we want the maker to gain the maximum benefit from our relationship.  This arrangement also helps us to better understanbd the brand and products we sell.

Many of our products are suitable for individuals following a plant-based or vegan lifestyle, many are zero-waste or plastic free and many are intended to have a positive impact on your wellbeing.  All are great products, created by some amazing brands and businesses.   There are sooooo many great products out there, why would we stock anything else?

We all have a responsibility and a role to play to reduce waste.  We refuse to use plastics in our packaging for online orders and we will not use plastic in our store.  We also recycle as much as we can and ensure that we focus on minimising the waste we produce.  So, for example, we donate any products we cannot sell to local food banks and charities, rather than throw them away.

We will continue to seek out products and brands that share the same ethos and we will do all that we can to support those businesses.  As we grow, we will ensure that we use this approach to shape how we grow and develop.
